Q2 metrics dashboard

This note is the running Q2 dashboard for Dulcet, our hosted markdown workbench. It collects the three numbers the team checks every week - where traffic comes from, how monthly active users are trending, and which roadmap bets are worth the effort - and renders each one as a Mermaid chart directly in the note. No external dashboard, no screenshots to keep in sync: the metrics note visualises itself.

Traffic sources

The first thing we review is acquisition. Where did this quarter's visitors actually come from? The breakdown below counts sessions across the quarter, grouped by first-touch channel.

pie title Sessions by acquisition channel (Q2)
    "Organic search" : 4120
    "Direct" : 2480
    "Referral" : 1560
    "Social" : 960
    "Paid" : 540

Organic search remains the dominant channel at roughly 42% of sessions, and direct traffic is healthy enough to suggest a returning user base. Paid is the smallest slice - deliberately so this quarter, since we paused spend to test how much of the funnel holds up without it.

Monthly active users

Acquisition only matters if it compounds. The series below tracks monthly active users (in thousands) across the full year so far. The bars show the headline MAU figure; the line overlays the same data so the month-on-month trajectory reads at a glance.

xychart-beta
    title "Monthly active users (thousands)"
    x-axis [Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec]
    y-axis "Active users (k)" 0 --> 60
    bar [18, 21, 24, 27, 31, 34, 38, 41, 45, 49, 53, 57]
    line [18, 21, 24, 27, 31, 34, 38, 41, 45, 49, 53, 57]

Growth has been close to linear at roughly three to four thousand net-new actives per month, with no sign of the summer dip we saw last year. If the slope holds, we cross 60k early in Q1 - which is the number the onboarding rework was sized against.

Roadmap prioritisation

Finally, the part that drives planning: where to spend engineering time. We score each candidate initiative on estimated implementation effort against expected user impact, then plot them. The bottom-right "Quick wins" corner is what we ship first; the top-right "Major bets" need a real planning conversation.

quadrantChart
    title Roadmap initiatives: effort vs impact
    x-axis Low Effort --> High Effort
    y-axis Low Impact --> High Impact
    quadrant-1 Major bets
    quadrant-2 Quick wins
    quadrant-3 Fill-ins
    quadrant-4 Time sinks
    Offline mode: [0.75, 0.82]
    Inline charts: [0.35, 0.78]
    Dark theme: [0.22, 0.45]
    Keyboard nav: [0.30, 0.40]
    Realtime sync: [0.85, 0.70]
    Export to PDF: [0.55, 0.28]

Inline charts and dark theme both land in the quick-wins quadrant - low effort, solid impact - so they go to the top of the backlog. Realtime sync and offline mode are the major bets: high impact but expensive, and they will need their own design spikes before we commit.
