Welcome to NoteGit
NoteGit is a browser-based markdown workbench. Your notes live in your own GitHub repositories - version-controlled, owned by you, and readable anywhere you can sign in to GitHub. The editor is VS Code; the preview is NoteThink, which turns a plain markdown file into boards, diagrams, charts, and richly-structured documents.
This file, and every file in the panel on the left, is a live demo. Edit anything - the preview updates as you type. Nothing is written back to this read-only demo repo; when you press Ctrl+S, NoteGit offers to save a copy to your own GitHub instead.
Take the tour
Open these files from the Explorer on the left to see what a note can be. Each one is a realistic artifact with a short footer explaining the feature it shows off.
Boards & planning
- project-board.md - a full Kanban board from a single markdown file: epics, assignees, statuses from
todothroughreview/testingtodone, priority and progress chips, and checklist progress on each card. Toggle the view between Board and Document with the selector at the top of the preview. portfolio/- a set of separate project boards (web-store.md, mobile-app.md, platform-infra.md), each a Kanban board in its own right.
Diagrams (Mermaid, rendered inline)
- process-diagrams.md - flowcharts and state machines.
- design-diagrams.md - sequence, entity-relationship, and class diagrams.
- data-charts.md - pie, xy (bar + line), and quadrant charts.
- roadmap.md - a Gantt roadmap and a milestone timeline.
- architecture.md - a cloud architecture diagram with provider logos.
Documents & data
- data-tables.md - GitHub-flavoured tables: alignment, striped rows, comparison matrices.
- code-runbook.md - fenced code blocks across shell, YAML, JSON, TypeScript, Python, SQL, and diffs.
- knowledge-base.md - a long-form document: deep heading hierarchy, nested and task lists, footnotes, strikethrough, blockquotes.
How it works
- You own your notes. They are plain markdown in a GitHub repo you control - no NoteGit-only database, no lock-in. See why-notegit.md.
- Familiar tools. The editor is VS Code Web, files are markdown, history is git.
- Keyboard-driven. See keyboard-shortcuts.md for the shortcuts that matter.
